Antonio Carvajal, the first footballer to play in five World Cups, has died. The former Mexico goalkeeper died on Tuesday at the age of 93. Mexican and world football icon Carvajal was known as 'Tota'.

He played for Mexico in the 1950 (Brazil), 1954 (Switzerland), 1958 (Sweden), 1962 (Chile) and 1966 (England) FIFA World Cups. This record was intact for 32 years. In the 1998 World Cup, German midfielder Lothar Mathews shared that record.
Carvajal played 47 matches for the Mexican national team.
