Will Weinraub, CEO of Cryptoys, speaks with NFT Steez on the future of entertainment, gaming, and toys.
NFT Steez met this week with Will Weinraub, the creator of Cryptoys, to talk about the present status of play and toys in relation to their integration with nonfungible tokens and Web3 as a whole.
According to Weinraub, playing is "not just for kids" and that even as adults, "we still want the aspect of play throughout life." He asserts that as a result of technological advancement, "play has transformed." NFTs have highlighted this layer of ownership via play, particularly in the gaming industry.
According to Weinraub and Cryptoys, "adults are merely searching for methods to feel like children again." Weinraub stated that this is a fundamental element of his experience with the evolution of play while keeping the subject of "how play evolves" front and centre.
From action figures to witnessing his kids create virtual worlds on Roblox, Weinraub stressed how much the internet has sparked an evolution in play and games. He claims that players are no longer constrained by the boundaries of their local communities or geographical regions.
In contrast to gaming from earlier decades, Weinraub emphasised that the substance of gaming is "very, very different" and leans more toward "social play," independent of regional constraints.
Weinraub recognised the issue when questioned about worries regarding young people's comfort levels with digital connections compared to their real-life social contacts. While it can "affect certain people, it can also exacerbate some of that," he added,
According to Weinraub, the evolution of gaming appears to be moving toward greater "social play" and, in some respects, may be intended to "improve communication skills."
The future of gaming and cryptocurrency
Weinraub expressed his fervent belief that in-game cryptocurrencies and tokenomics are "an crucial cornerstone of blockchain gaming" in response to a question regarding their function in the industry.
Play-to-earn models were originally developed and tested with a certain amount of "exuberance," and Weinraub praised the forerunners who first sailed these new seas. Over the next year or two, the industry is predicted to grow "quite fertile grounds," and according to Weinraub, gaming and token-based economies will ultimately "relaunch in a much healthier, sustainable form."
