After being hired as Chelsea's technical director, Christopher Vivell asserted that the team was developing the most intriguing project in world football. After Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased the team in the summer, Petr Cech's position as manager was filled by the former RB Leipzig executive.
The long-awaited appointment of Vivell follows that of Paul Winstanley as director of global talent and transfers, Laurence Stewart as technical director with an emphasis on international football, and Joe Shields as co-director of recruiting and talent. The newest director of the Blues will offer additional expertise in managing several clubs because he has worked for both RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg.
The German national spent time coordinating the overall squad-building plan for Red Bull's football division in addition to being in charge of recruiting and scouting across all age levels. As a crucial component of the leadership group at Stamford Bridge, Vivell is expected to help Graham Potter and the ownership group.

Boehly has already expressed his desire to emulate City and Red Bull groups and complimented the knowledge of their multi-club methods. He will now lean on the expertise of Shields, a former member of Manchester City, and Vivell, while Cook appears to have broader monitoring duties.
The top talent will be sought for, according to Boehly, and they will be hired. It is similar to managing any human capital business in that acquiring the correct personnel, getting them to work together, getting them organised, and considering how to manage a global firm at a local level are the key factors.
"We'll keep putting more resources at our disposal. We have discussed using a multi-club model. I would like to keep expanding the footprint. There are several nations where having a club has advantages; Red Bull performs an excellent job with Leipzig and Salzburg, both of which compete in the Champions League. They have thus discovered a way to make that work.
"Man City boasts a huge network of clubs, as well. Chelsea is currently facing a difficulty, or at least one of them: when you have superstars who are 18–19–20 years old, you may loan them out to clubs, but you hand over control of their growth to someone else.
