Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, has been accused of violating 232 betting laws, according to the Football Association.

The allegedly violated dates range from 25 February 2017 through 23 January 2021.

The 26-year-old Toney has 10 Premier League goals this season but was not selected for the England World Cup team.

In a statement, Brentford stated: "The club has had conversations with Ivan and his attorneys. These discussions will go on in private."

Toney has to answer until November 24 to the FA misconduct allegations, which entail suspected violations of FA rule E8, which prohibits players from exchanging confidential information with one other or with other parties for the purpose of betting on games.

If these alligations are confirmed, he might be subject to a protracted suspension. In December 2020, England defender Kieran Trippier received a 10-week suspension from the FA for providing information to enable others to wager on his move from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.

Manager Joey Barton received a five-month suspension in 2017 after confessing to betting on football 1,260 times over a ten-year span.

After learning about the allegations, Toney stated earlier this month that he was "helping the Football Association with their enquiries."

Toney represented Scunthorpe United, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United, and Brentford during the period covered by the FA accusation.

From 2015 to 2018, he was a member of Newcastle United's roster, however he spent the most of that time on loan. The footballer, who was born in Northampton, played for Scunthorpe twice—during the 2016–17 campaign and once again from January to May 2018—each coming after a six-month loan stint at Wigan.

Toney joined with Peterborough in August 2018 and then transferred to Brentford for £5 million in September 2020.

The forward, whose career started at Northampton, has 58 goals in 105 appearances for Brentford, including two in an unexpected 2-1 victory at the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the final game before the season ended.
