Yesterday I wrote about summer, today I want to say something about summer and five more seasons. But that is subject to time. I said there are many fruits available in summer and they are very tasty. Not only is it delicious but it is also very juicy. However, some terrible incidents also happen in this season, the most notable of which is the storm of Kalbaishakhi. Every year Bangladesh is hit by severe cyclones in India and neighboring countries which cause a lot of damage due to violence.
This year, in Kalbaishakhi, houses have been destroyed due to falling trees in different parts of Bangladesh and even human crops have been severely damaged. Many times there is a risk of life due to storms. Just 15 days ago we had a Kalbaishakhi storm that destroyed many houses and trees. A few days ago, cyclone Ashani affected Orissa in West Bengal, India.
Severe temperatures are also seen during this season which makes it unbearable to move outside. Sometimes there are problems with electricity. Adequate amount of air is not available due to load shedding. Occasionally there are different types of disasters like terrible tidal wave. As the southern part of our country is coastal, there are a lot of cyclones in its vicinity. And the damage caused by this cyclone is huge. Many times this has an effect on the agricultural sector. Day laborers are also not available for work. Now is the time for farmers to harvest paddy but not everyone can hire workers for wages. Being forced to pay half of the paddy as wages.
During this season, rivers, canals and beels are flooded, which in many places submerges its or various crops under water. In many places, city dams protect crop lands, but they are never protected from storms. The season that comes after summer is called monsoon season. In the meantime I have given some hints about the rainy season which starts from summer.
During the monsoon season, just as rivers and canals fill canals, so does rainfall. Natore, my neighboring district in the northern part of our country, receives the highest annual rainfall there. So I get a lot of rain here since it started raining a lot last night. Rain often makes it difficult for young children to stay indoors. There is a lot of loss of work. I cooked the rice yesterday but could not dry it.
