ANOTHER UNPOPULAR OPINION
I attended mass one good sunny sunday.
For me, Sundays are special days reserved for the worship of God. They should be revered by all.
I left my home and arrived very early at the church. I hate being late to activities. As far as I’m concerned, it’s indiscipline.
As I sat in Church, my mind was divided. I thought about so many things. I reminisced the days I was beaten and compelled to attend church services. Time indeed flies.
The preacher started his homily and my attention was called to the altar. He began his speech with a story.
“When I was a kid, I loved going to the market. I would sneak out of the house and run to the market with the other kids in my neighborhood. At the market, we would play, and cause so many mayhems.”
The congregation laughed at his story. I didn’t laugh. I wanted him to continue so I would see where he was headed.
“My mum always scolded and punished me when I returned from the market. Sometimes, she even beat me. She would advice and threaten me with more beatings afterwards.”
“I never listened to her. I didn’t see anything wrong with going to the market. My love for the market was insatiable.”
I was beginning to be angry. I hate suspense!
“I’m all grown now and my mum no longer tells me what to do. I make my own decisions. I cannot remember the last time I went to the market. I no longer go there. Even when I need some goods from the market, I send my cook and stewards to help me buy them. The noise at the market is too much for me.”
Yes!!!
I got his point.
A good number of us are like the preacher in his young age. We are very eager to do certain thing that are mostly not appropriate. Even when we’re advised against them, we do not listen.
If we calm down and wait, everything will make sense.
Now, we might see them as the best things to do, but if we listen to the advice of elderly people and mentors, we would thank them and do better in the future.
For the records, I don’t like going to the market too.

Thank you
