There is a special day in the rural areas of Bangladesh when the biggest market of that area is held, in that market all the people of that area want to buy their necessary things, in most areas this market is held once a week, people from several nearby villages go to that market to buy and sell, because of the market being held once a week, there is a lot of pomp and circumstance, many things are sold and bought.

In our area, a big market is held every Wednesday, is this what we call Wednesday market, basically this market is located in Ratankandi village, because of which this big market is called Ratankandi market, people from far away come to this traditional market to buy and sell, people from several nearby villages come to this market to buy and sell things.

People from our village and several surrounding villages wait for a week just for the Ratankandi market on Wednesday. This traditional market is very old. I have been visiting this market since my childhood. When I was a child, I used to go to this market with my father. At that time, many people used to come to this market on foot from far and wide. But now people no longer come on foot, but rather everyone comes by car.

All kinds of things are available in this Ratankandi market on Wednesday. This market is especially famous for buying and selling cattle and goats. People from far away come on foot to sell their cattle and goats. Many wholesalers come to the market to buy cattle and goats in bulk. During the Eid al-Adha, a large number of cattle and goats are bought and sold in this market. Sometimes buffaloes are sold in this market.

When I was a child, I used to go to the Ratankandi market on Wednesdays holding my father's hand, but since my father is not here now, I have to go to the market alone. Today is Wednesday of this week, so I went to the market. Because I have the responsibility of my family, I have to go to this market almost every Wednesday of the week to buy necessary things. Today too, I went to this market to buy some necessary things.

When I went to the market, I first bought a market bag to shop. When I entered the market, I saw some water on the side of the road. At one time, there was a market shop in this place too, but due to waterlogging, the place is empty. If you enter from the west side road, the first thing you will see is a place for selling ducks and chickens. Then, certain things are sold in different places in the market. One of the features of this market is that one type of thing is available in one place.

I go to the market with my bag and first go to the vegetable market to buy vegetables, first I buy potatoes, onions and brinjals, these necessary things are available in one place, from there I go to the middle of the market to buy fish, in the middle of the market I can see many cloth shops, among the cloth shops, the lungi shop is the most, this market is famous for lungi.

Every Wednesday, a large amount of fish comes to this market, fish sellers collect fish from different places and come to sell in the market, especially fish sellers collect fish from the Yamuna River and come to sell in this market, fresh small fish from the river are available in this market, many big fish are also available, today I bought pangas fish from the market, and I looked around the fish shops.

After buying fish, I go to the fruit shop to buy bananas. There are many bananas available in this market. There are fruit shops all around where bananas are sold. I buy bananas and go to the south side of the market to see cows. Today I saw buffaloes. Some people have brought a few buffaloes to the market to sell. Besides, like every Wednesday, many cows and goats are being bought and sold. From this market, traders buy cows and goats in bulk and take them to various places including Dhaka to sell.

After a long time, I saw a buffalo in the market today.

After seeing the cows, I set off for home through the middle of the market. I see a few dried fish shops in the middle of the market. I buy a few dried fish from there and start returning home from the market. There are a lot of sweet and savory products available in this market, especially jilapi, one of the sweets in this market. The jilapi of this market is very famous. When I finished shopping, I returned home. This traditional market has a great reputation.
