As Hazrat Ganguhi was a physician and knew that it was difficult to give up opium at once and that it was necessary to take care of the student's condition, he said, "How much opium do you take, give it to me?" He took a pill and placed it in Hazrat's hand. Hazrat reduced some and gave the rest and asked him to take that much. Later, he consulted again and sat in silence for a while and said: Abi Maulvi! When he repented, he did so much. Saying this, he took out the box of opium and pushed it against the wall and said, Hey opium! "I just left you alone, no dirty work." He choked on the opium. Pray I am well but will not take opium.
So he came in bad condition, he escaped death, but he recovered and appeared in the service of Hazrat. Hazrat asked who? He told me that I was an opium user and narrated the whole incident. After that he offered two rupees. Maulana accepted it for fun. Maulana said, Brother, how do you get it for money? This money is for opium. Hazrat asked how is opium.
He said: If I repented of opium, I used to eat opium worth two rupees a month. I was very happy that now two rupees would be saved every month. I said, you have got the world in religion, but I said to myself that I will not keep money with you, keeping this in mind. I assured you that I would give you, but at that time I made up my mind that I would give opium of Rs. The world in religion. Sadly not even a good inch is understood.
