Lionel Messi is one of the best footballers in the world today. My very favorite player, I support the Argentine football team and Barcelona in the league.
Lionel Messi has probably had the worst time of his professional career this 2021-22 season. He has played a total of 34 matches for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), scoring just 11 goals.
According to Goal.com, the Argentine star broke ties with his childhood club FC Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). His 17-year relationship with FC Barcelona came to an end. He joined PSG in free-transfer.
There was a lot of fuss at that time about the unexpected change of party. Many have suffered since Messi left Barcelona for FC, many have just started supporting PSG because of Messi, PSG fans expected to see the magic of Messi's feet. But this has disappointed the Argentine star.
Messi has scored just six goals in the 2021-22 league. This is his lowest goal since his second season as a professional footballer (2005-06). He assisted only 14.
Messi scored five goals in seven matches for PSG in the Champions League. He could not score any goal against Real Madrid in the knock-out. PSG took leave from the last 16 of the league.
Messi played just one match in the Coupe de France, where he failed to score. He could not help. His team was knocked out of the last 16 by a penalty shootout.
Prior to joining PSG, Messi played a total of 34 league matches for Barcelona this season, scoring 30 goals and assisting 11 of those 34 matches. He was also the top scorer in La Liga at the time.
Lionel Messi brought the Copa America to Argentina after 26 years for his country at the international level. In that Copa America, Messi scored a maximum of five goals and won the Golden Boot.
