Green grass is a powerful tool for dairy cattle and milk production in our country; This is a big crisis of grass. As a result, cows of domestic breeds are not able to produce the right amount of milk despite having high quality of grass due to lack of adequate grass. In addition, in this country inhabited by 160 million people, separate vertical pressure is being exerted on agricultural land to meet the demand for food and shelter. The amount of cultivable land is gradually shrinking day by day. As a result, there is a dire situation in milk production of milk producing cows. In this situation, the production of modern technical and science-based hydroponic grass has added a new dimension to the solution of the cow-food crisis. If proper care and management techniques are standardized, we can easily procure green grass for dairy cows by producing hydroponic grass.

What and why hydroponic grass: Using only water without soil is called hydraulic grass. With the increase in population in the country, the amount of cultivable land is decreasing day by day. On the other hand, in order to meet the demand for animal meat of a large number of people, it is necessary to produce a large quantity of milk and meat to form a meritorious nation. Cows need a lot of raw grass to produce milk and meat. Many farms in our country do not have land for grass cultivation and some farmers do not want to cultivate grass in cultivable land. But for every cow weighing 300 to 400 kg, 15 to 25 kg of raw grass should be given daily. Land is not required to cultivate grass in hydroponic method so all the farmers can easily cultivate grass in this method and feed the cows if they want. Almost all the nutrients of granular and field green grass are available in this grass market. Moreover, the production cost is also very low. (1.50-2.00 per kg.)

Cultivation space: Roof of the house, indoors, nethouse, water tunnel, veranda, open space, plastic bucket, water bottle, earthen pot, etc. can be used.

Seeds used: Maize, wheat, gram, soybean, khesari, masakalai and barley.
Cultivation method

The seeds should be soaked in water for 12 hours.
Water should be drained and wrapped in a wet sack or black cotton cloth and kept in the dark for 24 hours.
Spread the seeds in a perforated wooden, tin or plastic tray on one side and cover with a black cloth for two days so that light and air do not get outside. Clothes should be kept wet all the time.
On the third day, remove the clothes and sprinkle water after half an hour. The trays should be arranged by making bamboo or wooden shelves in a room.
After 9 days 6 to 8 kg of raw grass will be available. The grass produced on 5 bighas of land can produce the same amount of grass in only 300 square feet tin shed house.
Benefits of hydroponic grass

Increases green grass production efficiency.
In less space, more grass can be produced in a smaller range.
Good results are obtained by feeding hydroponic grass at 40 to 50 percent of the fiber diet. Milk production increases by 10 to 15 percent. Milk fat and SNF increased by 0.3 to 0.5 percent.
This grass is 90 percent digestible whereas the granular food of this seed is only 40 percent digestible.
No use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
This grass contains 10 to 20 times more vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C than granules.
Pregnancy rates increase because these grasses contain sufficient amounts of Vitamin E, Selenium and Vitamin A.
Grass production increased by more than 25 percent.
This grass fiber is a source of vegetable meat, various vitamins and mineral salts.
This grass can be cultivated throughout the year. There will be no soil borne diseases. There is no possibility of insect attack so there is no need to use pesticides.
By eliminating phytic acid, which is an antinutrient fact in granular foods, it reduces rumen and increases the body's immunity and productivity.
Can be cultivated as planned (small / large).
It is a profitable and quality crop.
Milk and meat production increases due to being more juicy and digestible.
It is more environmentally friendly.
