Even a little strange... It seems that I knew that Sergey Vasilyevich had a space opera in his creative plans, but not only was the book's release a surprise, I also found out about it completely by accident.

However, it was not difficult to correct the mistake. The book was purchased and swallowed literally "in one sitting". It took several more days to "digest".

The story begins in an unusual way - with a glossary! Such is the "thick" hint that the mustache will be in an adult way.

However, the following text does not resemble a scientific treatise at all. The writer, with a spectacular gesture of a prestidigitator, unfolds the _zverinets_ of civilizations in front of us. I immediately remembered how in my youth I first opened the "Line of Dreams" and everything around me ceased to exist...

Yes, Sergey Vasilyevich is true to himself. Again, as a _decorum_, they are intelligent ones that have descended from species that are perfectly familiar to us, and, moreover, they have preserved their iconic habits... I remember that there was a civilization of mice in" Cold Toys", and now, less than half a century has passed - meet reasonable _coff_! ;)

However, decorum is decorum, and the heart of "kosmoopera" from Lukyanenko is a Big Intrigue. And in this regard, the novel did not disappoint. The intrigue here is really big, complex and multifaceted!

I think I will not be mistaken if I say that the problem of Sorgos is closest to us. Especially when in the official speeches of high-ranking officials, "pearls" sound like: "They will all burn, and we will go to heaven."..

Accordingly, the reflections after reading are no longer about the methods of interstellar travel and _invariants_, but about the fact that our humanity has again got a bad habit of wandering along the edge of the abyss.

Of course, in this state, it is very susceptible to external interference. Which can be realized both in the form of a strong hand that grabbed "by the collar", and as an equally strong kick or a "friendly bandwagon"...

I repeat, the central conflict is gorgeous, and the" morality "of the book goes far beyond"anti-militarism".
The writer's language is still juicy and sonorous, and the humor is still as funny and caustic.

If we talk about the shortcomings of the book, then, first of all, the references, references and references to the old works of the writer, and not only to space operas, catch the eye. They cheerfully jump all over the book, and tease the reader - " Come on, count it!" Not that self-copying was a vice, the unforgettable Vladimir Vysotsky still liked to say: "I steal from myself - I have the right." But there are too many of them...

Moralophages will also be disturbed by the abundance of explicit scenes. But as for me, this is just another "return to the roots", there were even more of them in the same "Line of Dreams"...

.. The ending most of all resembles a bunch of storylines that were chopped "alive" and immediately cauterized. I hope the continuation will not keep you waiting...

Summing up, I think it would not be a big exaggeration to say that this is a good science fiction, which, for the sake of proximity to the reader, wrapped itself in a colorful cloak of space opera. Of course, "Spectrum" does not reach the level of the parable, but it is very worthy.

So the work inspires a timid hope that Sergei Vasilyevich's creative crisis is finally over, and he will please us with something more imperishable.
