History of consoles part 1 ( Magnavox odyssey and Atari 2600)

## History of consoles Computers have change over the last 40 years and they are getting better as we go along. Computer specs are increasing and they even getting smaller and powerful not like 40 years ago when there was massive pc and pixelated displays. ## 1972 Magnavox odyssey  The first ever home console was Magnavox odyssey (designed by ralph bear) and it was release may 1972 for $100. The Magnavox odyssey took six C batteries or a power supply which was sold separately. The console did not have good sound quality but fixed it on their later console. The odyssey used something similar to cartridges that were called a game card (printed circuit board) that was used for games and they were connected to something similar to a rom slot like the Nintendo 64. This console sold over 330.000. ## 1977 Atari 2600  The Atari 2600 (original name: Atari VCR) was released in September 1977 by Atari. The Atari had microprocessor based hardware and it also took rom cartridges containing game codes. The Atari had two joystick controller, conjoined pair of paddle controllers and a cartridge game. The spec for this console is: CPU: 1.19 MHz, RAM: 128bytes video: antenna/RF, controllers: wired  We have got very far with consoles today and they are evolving very fast.
