Monserrate: A Beautiful Place That You Can't Miss

Today I want to share a very special place for Colombians, it's the beautiful hill of Monserrate located at 3.152 meters high from the eastern hills of Bogota.  The hill has been a place of pilgrimage since the time of the colony, it's a sanctuary to the Fallen Lord, which has a great religious value, it's visited by thousands of Catholic pilgrims.  The cross located on the slope of the hill is a symbol of the ascension of the fallen lord of Monserrate.  It's a very beautiful place to photograph and spend a day with the family.   I had the opportunity to be in this wonderful and quiet place, where you can walk through beautiful gardens, wide corridors of colonial architecture and stone columns, a fantastic museum where valuable antiques and oil paintings are preserved and of course, it's cozy church where there is a beautiful architecture and paintings by different artists and painters from the colonial era.   Due to its strategic location in the top of the hill, it's cold weather, sometimes with thick fog at dawn. It has very well maintained and extensive water channels, where its sound voraciously attracts the curious visitor who delights in the midst of such peace.  This place can be reached on foot, by cable car or funicular depending on the availability of each person's time and the weather.   The place is full of stairs and paved roads.   Its most important economic activity is tourism, due to the visits made by different groups and families who are attracted by the magic of this beautiful place an who also want to acquire striking handmade souvenirs, weavings, and pottery that they have in their corridors.  Very good restaurants and places to rest after the long walk.
