Undoubtedly one of the most wonderful beings in nature, are butterflies. These extraordinary insects have been the object of adoration from our ancestors, who considered them divine beings because they believed that they carried the soul of the dead to God, or that they carried the desires of men to the Highest. Even today they are admired by different cultures, symbolizing the spiritual world, the ideals of freedom and change.
And it is that the butterfly is so exceptional that it has been valued in all its existence: from the way of laying eggs and the transformation through which they have to cross to get to adult, to the matchless beauty of the morphology of their colorful wings. Throughout the history of humanity, has been observed and studied from multiple approaches, has inspired poems and theories, and has been the muse of innumerable metaphors that surely never question. It is said that when we fall in love we "feel butterflies in the belly", an armed phrase that may not be so affordable today. Although science is always ahead, to explain to us that what we feel is not more than that: a sensation. The truth is that every situation generates a reaction in our body, and for example, when we see the person we love, we "feel" that sensation of the butterflies, given that our organism produces specific hormones that paralyze the gastric muscles to be able to focus all the energy in arms and legs, in case we need to flee or fight, making feel a tingling in the stomach, which really is nothing more than blood supply. What we have to know is that this same reaction we have against all stressors alike. Therefore, if we are in a situation of risk or exposure, we will also have this sensation. The real metaphor, or why not, adapted to our era, is that our virtual days, perhaps the encounter with the other is a stressor. And that feeling of butterflies does not mean to have found true love, but to have found a love, among so many possible ones. Thus, it is feasible that in front of that other real, and not virtual, we prepare to fight or flee; to love us, not as a construction but as deconstruction and struggle, or admit that we are not prepared to leave our comfort zone and flee, freely, like a butterfly.
