Solana-Ether Ratio Hits 3-Month Low, Analyst Anticipates Further Losses

The Solana-Ether (SOL/ETH) ratio has plummeted to a three-month low, decreasing by 35% in just one month to 0.038 on Binance, marking its lowest point since March 13. This drop is largely attributed to the growing anticipation of a spot ether (ETH) ETF, which has redirected investments from altcoins like Solana's SOL to ether.

According to crypto analyst Josh Olszewicz, the bearish sentiment is evident, with technical indicators signaling further losses. The SOL/ETH ratio has fallen below the Ichimoku cloud support, a key bearish indicator that denotes a shift in market trends. This indicator, developed by Japanese journalist Goichi Hosada, consists of five lines that help identify broader trends, and a crossover below the cloud indicates a bearish market.

Additionally, the failure of an ascending triangle pattern, usually a bullish sign, has reinforced the bearish outlook. Despite the negative trend, temporary recoveries could occur if there are outflows from the Grayscale Ethereum Trust, similar to the outflows seen with Bitcoin ETFs.

Olszewicz also notes that Solana could see some interest if BlackRock applies for an ETF tied to SOL, though this is unlikely. Overall, the outlook for the SOL/ETH pair remains bearish as the ETH ETF narrative continues to dominate.
