Spider plant helps clean indoor air. 
Studies have shown that spider plants are effective in cleaning indoor air in homes or offices by absorbing chemicals including formaldehyde, xylene, benzene and carbon monoxide.Thick, fleshy roots allow the spider plant to tolerate inconsistent water.
The spider plant, Chlorophytum comosum, is one of the most common and well-known of all houseplants. It is especially popular with beginners, easy to grow and propagate, tolerant of neglect, and able to thrive in almost any condition. Its common name derives from the small plants borne on long trailing stems that vaguely resemble spiders.This clump-forming, perennial, herbaceous plant, native to the coastal regions of South Africa, has narrow, strap-shaped leaves that radiate from a central point. Leaves can be solid green or variegated with white or yellow stripes along their length. The leaves are not flat, but appear folded or folded down the middle. Plants are 12-15 inches tall. Thick, fleshy roots and rhizomes evolved to store water, allowing it to survive stagnant water.
