Why weed makes you lazy | The truth revealed

I've spent 3 hours reading through some of the most important scientific articles online and all the studies trying to put all the informations together to give you smokers the hypothesis, the premises and also the conclusions about the laziness produced by weed. ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmUov7JwjVQiGEeMPF7Cgwz4aWBDPm1Jwf3mGrEpnupRWc/image.png) ### What science says --- The stereotype that marijuana consumers are lazy is supported by some studies on a multitude of smokers & non-smokers. Research shows that people who regularly smoke marijuana for a long time tend to produce less of the substance in the brain that is associated with motivation. (***nothing about laziness***) UK & US researchers scanned the brains of marijuana users and people of similar age who did not use these drugs with a PET (positron emission tomography) device to measure how chemicals are distributed in brain. The studies have shown that people who have been smoking for a long time tend to produce less dopamine, a brain substance that gives pleasure and plays an important role in motivation and reward-stimulated behavior. Study participants who smoked on a regular basis and those who had started smoking at an early age had a lower level of dopamine in the striatum, a part of the brain, a result that could explain why smokers *seem* not to be motivated. ![cannabis-divider-lime.png](https://smoke.io/imageupload_data/3c90376999f78b6229b85da09bf275fb24c5df78) > The existence of this syndrome is controversial. ~ Michael Bloomfield, researcher at the Institute of Clinical Sciences at Imperial College London. ***Because increased dopamine production was associated with psychoses, researchers were expected to find a higher level of dopamine in weed smokers, but the results showed exactly the opposite.*** ### What successful weed smokers say --- Name: Chris Bovey Age: 46 Job: CEO at a cannabis seed distributor and founder of Angel Bird, a manufacturer of hard drives He started smoking: at 20 years old. How often: Most of the time. Quantity: Three to six grams per week. Favorite species: Kosher kush. ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPM24t8vTSLvjg6b2B4r18sHie2NgRAz84Ap8kCkRFXR3/image.png) > All the successful troops - the Beatles, Rolling Stones - smoked weed a hell lot and took psychedelic drugs. I do not feel that smoking would affect my motivation or laziness. I work very well on weed. In evening it helps me to relax. It helps me feel normal in this crazy world. ![cannabis-divider-lime.png](https://smoke.io/imageupload_data/3c90376999f78b6229b85da09bf275fb24c5df78) Name: Andrew Purvis Age: 32 Job: Owner of Joy Head Store in Worcester City: Worcester, Worcestershire He started smoking: In the last year of high school How often: Daily Quantity: Seven-eight grams per week Favorite species: Jack Herer

> I started to smoke in the last year of high school and realized that it was not a very accepted habit of society. It has not been easy for me to find a job because of the social stigma. My parents found out very early that I smoked and could not easily accept the situation; my dad died when I were very young, and my mother is conservative in many ways. I keep the distance between work and smoking, even if it sounds ridiculous, since I have a store that distributes marijuana smoking products. But I prefer to keep them separate. Sometimes smoking helps me prioritize things. I would not have my own business if I did not smoke. It does not seem to me a habit. It's just an option. ![cannabis-divider-lime.png](https://smoke.io/imageupload_data/3c90376999f78b6229b85da09bf275fb24c5df78) Name: Dean Price Age: 53 Job: Owner of a hydroponics store City: Newport, Isle of Wight He started smoking: 1992 How often: Daily Quantity: Three grams per day Preferred species: Super lemon haze ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNR1uESbxaaZ7yi3C1Ka9QdTQHML19cqojfBWHJ7VUzF4/image.png) > I have my business for twenty years. I have degenerative arthritis in the back since I did a motorcycle accident in 2001 or 2002. Smoking does not affect motivation. I know a lot of businessmen, counselors, realtors who smoke cannabis. I feel motivated in a cool way: I always do something productive or constructive. ![cannabis-divider-lime.png](https://smoke.io/imageupload_data/3c90376999f78b6229b85da09bf275fb24c5df78)
Laziness and motivation have a very close connection, taking the statements of scientists but also of successful smokers my own final objective conclusion is:
The consequences of weed on motivation & laziness are null. What matters a lot is how you look at life, how organized you are generally, which are your priorities & how you choose to act.
Even the scientists say it is controversial, so what's your point of view?
