Trade by Barter

When we were growing up we were taught bartering or trade by Barter which is just the act of trading goods and services without the use of money between two or more parties. This was how things were done back in the days when there was nothing like money, currency or stuff like that, and sometimes I can't really wrap my head around it, cos obviously imagine life without money and I can guarantee life was easier then compared to now. 

 

I wonder if things can ever go back to being that simple, in some cases yes like food and a few other things but in most things I can't see how it will work.
