GOD LOVES A CONTRITE HEART
TEXT: 1 KINGS 21:17-29
"For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabited eternity, whose name is holy; I dwell in the high and lofty place, with him also that is of contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." Isaiah 57:15
Contrite in Hebrews means 'dakka.' It means 'bruise' or 'crushed like powder.'
A contrite heart is a broken heart. It is a heart that shows genuine repentance after hearing the Word of God.
God also dwells in a broken spirit. Broken in Hebrew 'shabar' means 'to burst', or 'crush,' or 'broken in pieces.'
God dwells in heaven, but He also promised to dwell in those who are contrite and humble in spirit.
God hates the proud, but He loves the humble. He also do not like people that are hypocrites.
There are some people that are religious, but are still living in sin.
The book of James said that God resisted the proud but gives grace to the humble.
There are many people that is resisting God in their life today. Are you one of them? Acts 7:51
It could be very dangerous if one is resisting the Holy Spirit. That means you are enemy of God.
The book of Joel counseled that such a person should rend his heart and turn to God Joel 2:13
And God promised that He will come and dwell in that heart 2 Corinthians 6:16
