"FAILURE IS NEVER FINAL"

*TOPIC: "FAILURE IS NEVER FINAL"*

📖 *TODAY'S TEXT:*

Luke 5:1-7; 15:11-24

🔑 *KEY VERSE:* 

"Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise: When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me" (Micah 7:8, NKJV).

🖊️ *COMMENTARY*

It is not over yet; the final whistle is yet to be sounded. It was in the late 80s that Robert H. Schuller wrote a popular book: Success Is Never

Ending Failure Is Never Final. On page 11, he said, "Real success is accepting your God-given opportunities and giving your divinely inspired goals 110% of your best effort." But in spite of our best efforts, sometimes we meet with failure. As a result, we end up depressed and give up. Luke 5:1-7 record the story of Peter toiling throughout the night without a single catch of fish. Jesus stepped in, and instructed him to "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch" (v. 4), Peter's response was: "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing" (v. 5). To Peter, it was useless to try again. But on a second thought, he said to Jesus, "nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net." The bible says "they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking."

The "Prodigal son" claimed his inheritance and travelled to a "Far country" There, he squandered his possessions in prodigal living (Luke 15:13). When he came to his senses (Luke 15:17), he returned home. He ignored shame and self-pity. He desired a second-chance. He received a warm reception from his father (w. 20-24).

Beloved, because you failed in your business, career, exams yesterday does not make you a failure. Put your past behind you. Move ahead, press on. Your yesterday will only drain you of your today/tomorrow victory. Your tomorrow will be greater than today. Keep trying, but never give up.
