TOPIC: MISPLACED PRIORITY

🔑 KEY VERSE:

"But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him". 1 Samuel 5:20.

🖊️ COMMENTARY

We often meet distractions on our path to a glorious destiny. If we make mistakes in setting priorities, we may end up losing such wonderful opportunities that God offered to settle our efforts.

Gehazi was chosen by Elisha the great Prophet who succeeded Elijah. The aim was for Gehazi to also succeed Elisha as Elisha did to Elijah in the prophetic dynasty of Israel. Elisha knew how he got the mantle and was seeing how he will Hand over to Gehazi. For Gehazi, he already is in the line of becoming another great Prophet of Israel, but here is a distraction of what to get and maintaining his position in the prophetic dynasty. The choice is serious. It takes God to deliver us when distractions come. Distractions are not known until they accomplish their purpose. The undertone of the offer and receiving is purported to rob Gehazi of a future glorious position. So let's always make tomorrow a priority than what today's has to offer.

Check it out, most things that appear like opportunity are only distractions. Gehazi inherited the leprosy of Naaman the Assyrian General instead of the mantle of a great Prophet of Israel, Elisha. Distraction can lead one into lies. Gehazi lied to

Naaman, he also lied to Elisha. The power to be used to pronounce Gehazi as a prophet was used to denounce and

declare him a leper.

Look well to find out if there is a distraction packaged in form of opportunity. Oh may God help us to discern those things the enemy is packaging to look like a golden opportunity.
