🖊️ *COMMENTARY* 

The account of Rahab in our today's text is one of the most striking narratives in the scripture warning us against presumptuousness at any point of life. There are many grass to grace stories in our literature books but the salvation of a family triggered off by a social out-cast that latter laid the foundation of a new world order defies reasoning. Yet that is actually what Rahab's account is all about. Never give up on anybody. God had destined Jericho for destruction with all the inhabitants. One person who heard the story of the God of Israel determined to pitch her tent with Him. Others heard the same story with Rahab but treated the story with levity, they died without mercy. On the basis of Rahab's faith, she found life and salvation and became one of the grandparents of our Lord Jesus.

Apostle Paul while writing the book of Titus states that the graces of "God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. What we do or fail to do with the word of God determines our placement in life.

 

Rahab took to heart the word, ignoring the fatal consequences of her contemplated action. She never died but was saved. Those who tend to save their lives will lose but those who will lose their lives for Christ sake will save it.

Every salvation, deliverance and miraculous blessings are always hinged on obedience. She was able to obey the directives of the spies and got the full measure of God's promise. The principles are the same today and always.

God is on the lookout for who to bestow His grace. Many righteous men and women were available but faith on the Almighty is the trigger-point.
