*TOPIC: FULFILLING PURPOSE*

📖 *TODAY'S TEXT:* 

Genesis 24:3246

"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philipplans 3:14, NKJV)

🖊️ *COMMENTARY* 

There are choices along the way in fulfilling purpose. What brings us pleasure, the things we enjoy, in which we take pride, can disappear in a moment Whether it is food, money, sex, or pleasure, they can all go, and we never become fulfilled when they are the object we pursue. Pleasure and pride distract us from fulfilling purpose. Distraction is anything that wants to derail your progress and confuse your momentum towards accomplishing your task.

With an unusual speed granted him by God, Abraham's servant literally has in his hands the answer to his prayers-Rebekah. Seated with the young men that went with him at a reception dinner organized by Rebekah's family in his honour, he said: *"I will not eat until I have told about my errand (v.33).* This is a great display of focus, discipline, determination and pursuit of purpose. They have come from a far distance on a long journey and should definitely be hungry: yet his mission was of a high priority to him than refreshment was. This throws a great question at your face today-what has your attention: food or purpose? What has your attention: pleasure or fulfilling your assignment?

Abraham's servant was under oath to deliver and all his actions showed a die-hard commitment to fulfilling that purpose. What purpose are you pursuing after, and what are you doing to get it fulfilled? Many today, like Esau (Gen. 2531-34), have sold their place in destiny for a plate of pottage served them on the table of gluttony, indiscipline, carelessness, laziness, etc. Truth remains, whether you choose to give priority to fulfiling purpose or face the

food served you by distractions, the answers you seek are already around you waiting for your determined and focused approach before you can fulfill it. Stay focused on your targets, goals and assignment God calls each of us toward a greater purpose; we just have to keep moving forward to reach it.
