📖 *TODAY'S TEXT:* 

Psalms 73:3 – 14

🔑 *KEY VERSE:* 

"For all the daylong have l been plagued, and chastened every morning" (Ps. 73:14).

🖊️ *COMMENTARY*

On the night note, on May 4, 2016, an Israeli man, David Shoshan. brought a suit before a Haifa (lsrael) magistrate court asking the court to

restrain God from poke-nosing into or in any way interfering with his life. His contention was that God had been very unkind to him, and therefore had no right to exert any control over his life.

Online medium, Walla News reported that throughout the pre-trial hearing the presiding judge, Ahsan Cannan, allowed David to air his many frustrations before denying his request, telling him that the person he is suing is not in court and cannot be dragged to court by any power in heaven, earth, under the earth or anywhere else.

In conclusion, the judge remarked that "David definitely needs help which cannot be provided by this court."

This might sound comical and some may dismiss David's action as the ranting of a semi - deranged person but David's tantrums are not too different from what we all repeatedly do at different times in our life when we face really tough times. Psalms 73:13-14 express the frustrations of the Psalmist with God. He says, "Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and washed my hands in innocence; for morning"(Ps. 73:2-3). Because of this his feet almost stumbled; that is, he came close to backsliding.

Anybody who has gone through the trenches of painful experiences will relate with the feelings of the Psalmist. You will understand that life is not trouble free even for a child of God and that it will not be "praise the Lord" everyday; although the scripture commands us to give thanks to God for all things. However, we like the Psalmist, must come to realize "it is good for me to draw near to God." Only then can one understand that God's blessings on the godly are eternal whereas their trials are short-lived. So, if you are in that unpalatable place of pain, hang in there for soon, your Redeemer will come to the rescue.
