TOPIC: TRAITS OF SWEET MOTHERS

📖 TODAY'S TEXT:

Exodus 2:1-3: Proverbs 31:10-15

🔑 KEY VERSE:

"Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her" (Prov. 31:28, NKJV).

🖊️ COMMENTARY

Sweet mothers are not easily found. They are special gifts from God to the worid. A sweet mother is someone who nurtures and cares for her children, her family etc. Sweet mothers are selfless, loving human beings who sacrifice many of their needs for the needs of their children. They work hard to make sure their children are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make them competent persons in society. They love their children and forgive their mistakes unconditionally.

Some Biblical examples of godly or sweet mothers:

👉🏿 Moses' mother is an example of a sweet mother. Exodus 2:-10 gave a brief story of Moses' birth. In Exodus 1:15-22, the king of Egypt ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill all male children birthed by Israelites women. This was the time Moses was born. The mother hid him for three months. When she could no longer hide him, she prepared a little basket daubed with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, placed it by the river's bank (v. 3). Miriam watched over him until Pharaoh's princess arrived and ordered Moses' mother to nurture the little child (vv.4-9).

👉🏿 Hannah, mother of Samuel. (1 Sam. 1:20-28). Hannah raised

Samuel in the fear of God.

👉🏿 Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was a faithful mother. Through her upbringing, "Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men" (Luke 2:52).

There is need for godly mothers today like the mother of John and Charles Wesley. She had sixteen children, and personally led all to

Christ.
