*TOPIC: MANAGING ADVERSITY*

📖 *TODAY'S TEXT:*
Proverbs 24: 5-10

🔑 *KEY VERSE:*
" If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small" (Pro. 24:10).

🖊️ *COMMENTARY*
One could rightly say that adversity measures or determines strength and, to a large extent, faith. A Christian's true virtue will show in a time of adversity; it either reveals the best or worst of an individual.

A time of adversity in one's life can be likened to the lowest moment of the person's life. It is a time when everything about a persons" life is laid bare - the strength of one's character or the stench of one's attitude. It is like the craftsman's flame that churns out the best quality of gold by removing the dross from the gold nugget.

God expects us to develop 'staying power' during these turbulent times and not to relent alongside the those with feeble heart. The adversity we are currently facing in Nigeria marked by severe economic hardship, alarming unemployment levels, sky-high inflation, convoluting corruption, social instability, dislocations and deaths Occasioned by terrorist/religious insurgency, kidnapping and tribal conflict may leave believers unsettled and tempted to lose faith in God. But our ever faithful God has promised never to leave or forsake His children.

As good soldiers of Christ, believers should endure the hardness of the moment while trusting God for the best. Christians are to keep their fire and zeal for the Lord burning because adversities are always temporal and often work out for the best for God's chosen people. Let's put to heart the scripture that says, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivereth him out of them all" (Ps 34:19).

Following are some keys to help a Christian stand strong in the days of adversity: 1. No condition under heaven is permanent ( Eccl. 3:1; 2Cor. 4:17). God holds the answer to every question and solution to every problem (Heb. 4:16; John 14:1). 3. God is with you (Isa. 41:10; 43:2; Ps. 23:4). 4. Passing a test brings promotion (Mt. 4:11; 2 Cor. 4:17).

Always remember that Jesus told us to expect trouble from the world, but we should rejoice because He has overcome it in John 16:33.
