OUR GOD IS KNOWN!

*TEXT:*

Acts17: 19 - 24

*KEY VERSE:*

"For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you" (Acts 17:23).

*MESSAGE:*

Living in self-deception is nothing but fooling oneself. Self-acclaimed atheists know deep within themselves that God does exist and is very real but chose to ignore the known truth of the existence of God. Many of such atheists were once Christians who had expectations which they felt God failed to meet, and rebelliously denounced their followership and knowledge of God. However, a man's perception or decision about God neither changes who He is nor erases His existence. As a matter of fact, even if all men reject Him, He remains the All-Powerful, All-Knowing and Ever-Present God, who created all things. The earliest scientists acknowledged that the more one studies science the more it reveals the nature of God; they noticed the fingerprint of God in the study of nature and marveled.

As the wisest man observed in Eccl. 1:9, "... there is no new thing under the sun." Let us remind ourselves that before the advent of many 'unknowns' in our societal complexity and lexicon such as "unknown gunmen, unknown killers and unknown killed, unknown faith and unknown fear, unknown friends and unknown foes, unknown givers and unknown takers, unknown leaders and unknown dealers, unknown managers and unknown damagers, unknown builds ups and unknown breakdowns, unknown scatterers and unknown gatherers, among others Apostle Paul had come across philosophers at Mars Hill in Athens who built a worship centre with an inscription, 'To the Unknown God.'

Let us ensure that we do not degenerate to the extent that we who have come this far in our race will begin to see God with the lens of the Athenians as a retired personality that appears lo be existing in an unknown space but absent in our horizon. Believers should be conscious of this fact that, God is actively involved in all our daily dealings both in private and public and must definitely reward us according to our works.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT: 

God reveals Himself to anyone who desires to know Him. The extent you yearn for Him is the extent you will know Him.

PRAYER: 

Dear God, I open my heart to You in earnest desire to know You more; show me more of You in Jesus' name!
