*TOPIC: WHEN GOD DISRUPTS YOUR PLANS*

📖 *TODAY'S TEXT:*

Matthew 1:18-25; Genesis 12:1 -9

🔑 *KEY VERSE:* 

"There are many plans in man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel will stand" (Prov. 19:21, NKJV).

🖊️ *COMMENTARY*

Divine interruption simply means God stopping or hindering one's actions, plans, activities or programmes in order to carry out His own. God does not need to take permission from anyone before He stops him from carrying out his plans. He is Almighty God and He does what pleases Him. He breaks into our plans from time to time to achieve His purpose for mankind. When He wants to achieve His purpose, He would not mind to make us uncomfortable, so far He achieves His purpose. When He decided to save mankind from sin, He called Abram and relocated him from his comfort zone. God changed his plans, sense of direction and his name and that of his wife, Sarai in order to fit into His plan for mankind. Then God said to him, "And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Gen. 12:3b).

Joseph and Mary had agreed to marry and all was set for the consummation of the marriage. Suddenly, God interrupted and suspended the wedding till further notice. Joseph and Mary did not know that God had decided to pass through them and bring His Son, Jesus Christ into the world. So when Joseph discovered that his wife, Mary was pregnant, he was upset and he decided to call off the marriage. Immediately, God appeared to him in a dream and informed him that He (God) was responsible for the pregnancy. Immediately, Joseph submitted to God's will and purpose. The Bible also tells us that Joseph did not interfere with God's plan but submitted to God's will.

Saul of Tarsus was on his way to Damascus for special assignment given to him by the Jews when God interrupted him and he was saved (Acts 9:1-10). God interrupted Peter when he had washed his boat and was about going home and afterward Peter was blessed with a big catch (Luke 5:1-5). Our obedience to God's interruption will be dully rewarded.

Lord, help me to accept divine interruption and to allow the Holy Spirit to take control of my life.
