TOPIC: PAY THE PRICE

📖 TODAY'S TEXT:
Luke 23:39- 46; Matthew 10:16 -26

🔑 KEY VERSE:
"Then He said to them all, "lf anyone desire to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (l Cor. 1:27, NKJV).

🖊️ COMMENTARY
The Lord Jesus was highly exalted and given a name above every name and at His name every knee bows, in heaven, on earth and under the earth (Phil. 2:9). He reigns in glory now and forevermore. Meanwhile, He passed through both hot and cold weather, having nowhere to lay His head. He fasted for forty days and nights and was exposed to dangerous animals in the wilderness. He prayed in the garden and the sweat dropping from His body was as thick as blood. He was abused, scourged, crowned with thorns and finally He paid the supreme price of dying on the cross.

After His death and ascension, His disciples had to pay the price one after the other. Paul said, "We must through many tribulations enter the
Kingdom of God" (Acts 14:22). He passed through it and went into the glory (lI Tim. 4:6–8). Deacon Stephen passed through the same way and at the end heaven welcomed him in a glorious manner (Acts 7:55–60). Nothing goes for nothing. There is no place for cowardice and laziness in Christianity. Service of God demands our time, money, strength even our entire lives. We need to be committed to what we believe.

Actually, God promised to bless us, yet that does not mean Christians will live a life void of trails and temptations . Persecution is still real. Temptation is also real. The cross of Christ is an emblem of suffering. We cannot talk about being powerful and anointed Christians without paying the price. We cannot talk about souls being saved and backsliders won without paying the price. We cannot talk about reigning with Christ without paying the price. If there is no cross, there would not have been any crown.
