BETRAYED BUT NOT DERAILED

A story from a Friend

It was an early Monday morning after I returned from a trip that I called the manager of the company I used to work for as a customer representative officer, admin, and secretary to inform him that I was back and ready to resume work. However, he called me back a few minutes later to inform me that my job had been terminated. It felt like a blow, and I never saw it coming.

Reflecting on the news, I wondered what could have prompted this abrupt dismissal with no prior warning. I did my job well, was granted leave for the trip, cleared my work before traveling, and handed over my responsibilities adequately to my partner before my departure. So, what was the issue? This question kept ringing in my mind.

Out of curiosity, I started making inquiries, trying my best to gather information from any source, as the situation seemed like a conceived and concealed matter that no one was willing to reveal. 

One evening, my assistant called me. She first apologized for not informing me earlier and, due to our closeness and how I treated her, felt it would be wrong to keep the information from me. 

To my surprise, it was a fabricated story told to the company director about me by an elderly man who was my church member and a close friend. Without any prior investigation, the story was believed, and the decision was made.

I thanked her for the information and promised to keep silent despite my hurt. However, I vowed to myself to push harder, not to prove I was better than anyone, but to showcase the unfailing grace of God I carry.

Betrayal is not denial, and holding onto the pain keeps you in the past. 

The past is a story that fuels the present, guiding you to the future, but the bridge is consistency, resilience, and the propensity to succeed.
