*TOPIC: OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF MAMMON*

🖊️ *COMMENTARY* 

Jesus Iived within the Syrian community and knew their worship system. History has it that the Syrian god of wealth and prosperity was called Mammon. So Jesus knew what this false god represented: the love of money and material wealth, comforts and power it might buy. Jesus also knew that you cannot have any other god alongside the Creator of heaven and earth. That would be idolatry. Therefore, he said, You cannot serve both God and Mammon."

So Mammon is an evil influence or false object of worship, mammon is also a spirit, but is not the same thing as money as some may think. But its operations are within the confine of finances. We must be vigilant because this evil spirit is always ready to prevail over these categories of people: Believers, Carriers of the anointing, Kingdom financiers, those who have never experienced poverty, and those who used to be poor but are now rich.

The spirit successfully destroyed people like Judas Iscariot, Gehazi, Ananias and Saphira, Demas, and so on. This is the only Spirit that was led in comparison to God. It wants your devotion, time and worship just like God wants the same from you. Someone once said show me your budget; how you make your money and what you spend it on, I will tell you whose you are. Who are you serving today?
