PDP NWC Visited by British High Commissioner, Who Requests Peace On Wednesday in Abuja, Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, met with representatives of the PDP National Working Committee.
The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party is in attendance during a meeting with the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing (PDP). Liang is pleading for peaceful elections at the gathering while announcing that the British Government will punish anyone or any organization that encourages electoral violence.
Prior to the Nigerian general election in 2023, the British government has consistently vowed to promote transparent, fair, and free elections in Nigeria. It has regularly threatened to impose visa sanctions on Nigerian political figures through its Nigerian High Commission if they engage in supporting electoral violence.
Several organizations have issued comparable pleas for the preservation of peace prior to, throughout, and following the general election in 2023 as the elections get near.
The National Peace Committee, led by former military head of state Abdusalami Abubakar, managed to persuade the presidential contenders to sign a peace agreement in Abuja just as the 2023 election campaigns got under way in September.
