The Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) has finally started an investigation against former general secretary Abu Naeem Sohag, who was banned for two years for corruption. The committee was formed earlier. However, the committee started working on Sunday by sitting in a formal meeting. The inquiry committee of Buff will submit its report within 30 days from this working day. At the end of the first meeting, the convener of the investigation committee and the vice-president of BAFUF, Kazi Nabil Ahmed said, "This is the first meeting of our investigation committee." FIFA has investigated the financial affairs of FIFA since 2017-20. In view of that investigation, on April 14, the then general secretary of Bafuf, Abu Naim Sohag, was banned by the world football's highest body for two years. Later Bafufei himself formed an investigation committee to ban Sohag for life. FIFA's investigation committee will work in the light of the FIFA report.
However, Kazi Nabil said that former general secretary Abu Naim Sohag will not be called before the investigation committee. In his words, we will not call him (Sohag). The board of FIFA and Bafuf has decided about him. With Sohag, two other employees of Bafuf are accused of corruption. Kazi Nabil said about them, they will be called. After that we will decide whether they will remain in charge, or they will be relieved from work pending investigation.
Abdus Salam Murshedi, the senior vice-president and chairman of the finance committee, has also been named in the FIFA report. He is also said to have received a letter of condolence from FIFA. In this regard, Nabil said, "If necessary, he (Salam Murshedi) can be talked to." On April 17, BAFUF formed a ten-member investigation committee. Two vice presidents Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi resigned from that committee. As a result, Bafuf's investigation committee now has 8 members. In the first meeting, two other members of the investigation committee, BAFUF Vice President Imrul Hasan and BAFUF member Ilyas Hossain could not attend due to their busy schedule.
