LAUGHING GAS
Poetry isn’t all misery,
in it also is great ecstasy.
I’m not only a dark poet,
I’ve got some pills of fun
in ma’ black blood too.
If not for garri,
Who’s Beyonce when I sing?
If no be say I no wan buga,
who's Michael Jack when I dance?
And if not for my love for noodles,
who's Mike Tyson when I tear punch?
If not for cold water,
who’s Dunsin Oyekan when I grab mic for bathroom?
If not for this yeye sleep ehn,
who's Soyinka when I vomit vocabularies?
If no be say I love my legs,
where is UK wey I no fit Japa?
If not for gra-gra,
who’s Woli Agba when I start prayers?
If no be say I like bench,
who’s Halland & CR7 when I enter pitch?
And if not for Nigerian weather,
who’s Kante when my black shines?
If no be say person dey wake,
who’s Dangote when I spend in dreams?
If no be say dem go say ma own too much,
who be Peter Obi when I begin dey campaign?
If not for good heart,
what’s in hell, that I can’t be class captain?
