ARÓLÁKÉ
I have trekked unto this land on my own,
With heart, so weak and weary.
And every night my eyes are closed.
But my arms are always widely opened
To solemnly embrace the one my heart truly desires.
Aróláké mi
You have stolen my worries and replaced them with lovelies.
And you have filled my emptiness
With the feelings of love which I do not deserve.
I am just a commoner, I am just a loner,
Who has found worthiness in the sight of a beauty.
Aróláké, if your beauty could tame kings and royals;
And every man could dream of you as their favourite,
Then how much more me, a lover of your soul.
Who has seen the wonders of your beauty in moon-time.
Aróláké, your beauty is like a seed
That blossoms with fresh leaves in springtime.
Your beauty is like the stars,
It shines even when everything appears to be fading.
Your beauty is like the moon
That everyone looks up to and runs after.
And your beauty is like the Sun,
So bright that all eyes can see.
Aróláké, let me keep your love close to my heart,
And treasure it till the end of time.
I wish hearts could be unveiled as much as Igbà,
I would love to make you see.
How much your love dominates my heart.
Aróláké, your love does not only occupy my heart,
Your love has made my heart its dwelling place.
And as long as the Àkàlàmàgbò's strong wings can keep me alive,
The eulogy of your wondrous beauty shall always remain on my lips.
