MY MOTHERLAND NEEDED ME

 

"Please don't go, I have a bad feeling about it"

"No mom, my motherland needs me,

Don't worry, I'd be back before you spell I.T"

"May God protect you for me"

 

Like a stereo, these words replayed in my head.

Mom must be sitting in the Obi,

Eyes scanning the road for her beloved Chimobi

Who now carries a bullet in his head.

 

If only I knew it'd be the last,

I'd have let her hug linger longer and tighter knowing it'd be the last

I still feel her warm breath behind my neck

Her shaky hands seems to still hold mine

 

Wrapped in my own blood, I have but one wish.

Tell mama that I don't mean to make the scar papa left in her heart bigger

l love her no doubt, but I just had to go.

Not because my best friends went,

But because we need more woods to make the fire bigger.

Help me tell my mother, that my motherland needed me.
