the objective of the RBI clean Note policy is to give the citizen good quality currency notes and coins while the soiled notes are withdrawnn out of circulation various steps are detiled hereunder 

the reserve bank has installed high-speed currency verification and processing system machines at all its offices which deal with currency these machines are capable of processing 50000-60000 pieces per hour and solid notes are shredded and briquetted on line 

RBI has taken several steps for augmenting the supply of currency notes and coins banks to issue only good quality clean notes to the public and refrain from reclining the solid notes received by them over their counters 

the member of the public and banks urged not to write on the currency notes 

public and banks not to staple the notes and prepare packets by wrapping in paper or plastic bands 

banks to provide unrestricted facility for exchange of solid and mutilated notes 

currency chest branches must offer even to non-customers good quality notes and coins in exchange for solid and mutilated notes 

currency chest branches  to mechanize their operations by installing smaller desk top versions in addition to banding machines

while the facility for exchange of solid notes is to be provided by all banks at all their branches the facility of exchange of mutilated notes would be available at designated banks branch to all tenders whether they are account holders or not
