Although Lewandowski won two recently and Bellingham has broken out here as a goalscorer, the best scorer has not played in Spain since 2019, when Messi won. This campaign, none in the top 10. They have even disappeared from the podium, which had not happened since 2004.

Currently, Harry Kane is the leader with 31 goals (62 points) followed by Mbappé (24 goals, 48 points), Guirassy (23 goals, 46 points) or Lautaro Martinez (23 goals, 46 points).... Then you could go down the top-10 of the ranking and find Openda (19 goals, 38 points), Akor Adams (22 goals, 36.5 points), Erling Haaland (18 goals, 36 points), Pavlidis (24 goals, 36 points), Pellegrino (24 goals, 36 points) and Denkey (23 goals, 34.5 points). None of them play in LaLiga.
The contenders for the top scorers of the continent are the same as those fighting for the top scorer trophy: Jude Bellingham and Dovbyk, who are tied on 16 goals, as well as Mayoral and Budimir, with 15 goals. Sorloth and Morata could emerge with a good final burst (14 goals) and it looks more difficult for former champion Lewandowski, who now accumulates 13 goals. To start appearing in the standings, provided their rivals do not advance as they are today, LaLiga's top scorers, Bellingham and Dovbyk, would have to score at least two more goals. Getting to feature points to be a tricky task to barely figure.
A demise after eleven seasons of dominance.
Since Diego Forlán beat Samuel Eto'o (30 goals) with 32 goals as a red-and-white in 08-09, the golden boot that crowns the best European league scorer did not leave the borders of Spain for eleven seasons. Between 09-10 and 14-15, Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo took turns in the honors, with three on each side, although the Portuguese shared the award in 13-14 with Luis Suárez when he was still at Liverpool. The dominance during those years went further with LaLiga players also occupying places on the podium as was the case of Dani Guiza before Forlán's victory, Messi himself or Cristiano one after the other or Diego Costa (13-14).
The Cristiano-Messi duel was broken by Suarez with his second trophy in 15-16, in which he scored 40 goals. Cristiano, that said, appeared in third place behind Higuain, who was already at Napoli after playing for Real Madrid.
From 2016 to 2019, Messi reigned uninterruptedly with three awards in a row (37, 34, 36 goals), but without direct competitors on the podium where Salah, Kane or a Mbappé who came close to adding this award. Since the last time the Argentine lifted it, LaLiga never touched the golden prize again. Ciro Immobile rose in 19-20 (36 goals), Lewandowski reigned in 2021 and 2022 (41 and 35 goals) and Erling Haaland did it last season (36 goals). Una desaparición tras once campañas de dominio.
Desde que Diego Forlán ganará con 32 tantos como rojiblanco a Samuel Eto’o (30 goles) en la 08-09, la bota dorada que corona al mejor goleador liguero de Europa no abandonó las fronteras de España durante once temporadas. Entre la 09-10 y la 14-15, Leo Messi y Cristiano Ronaldo se turnaron en el palmarés cayendo tres para cada lado, aunque el portugués compartiera el galardón de la 13-14 con Luis Suárez cuando este aún estaba en el Liverpool. El dominio durante esos años iba más allá con jugadores de LaLiga ocupando también lugares en el podio como fue el caso de Dani Guiza antes de la victoria de Forlán, el propio Messi o Cristiano uno detrás de otro o Diego Costa (13-14).
El duelo Cristiano-Messi lo rompió Suárez con su segundo trofeo en la 15-16 en la que anotó 40 goles. Cristiano, eso sí, aparecía en tercer lugar tras Higuaín, que ya estaba en el Nápoles después de militar en el Real Madrid.
