Los Diablos Rojos comenzaron la campaña con la ilusión de hacer un buen papel en la Premier League y llegar lejos en la Champions, pero no sucedió ninguna de las dos cosas: quedó 8° en el torneo local y quedó último en su grupo de la Orejona.
El United apenas cosechó 60 puntos en esta liga y su octavo puesto no le alcanza, ni siquiera, para meterse en Conference League. Sin dudas, una temporada para el olvido.
