The American is now the swimmer with the most Olympic titles in history after winning gold in the 800 freestyle. A total of nine that also equals Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina as the athlete with the most Olympic golds in history.
Simone Biles (Gymnastics)
The American won the vault final with a score of 15.300 and added her third Olympic title in Paris 2024, for a total of seven golds, one silver and two bronze in her career. Brazilian Rebeca Andrade was second and Jade Caray, third.
Isabell Werth (Equestrian)
The German took gold in the dressage team competition with her teammates Frederic Wandres and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and added her 13th medal (8 golds and five silvers) to enter the top-10 of athletes with the most Olympic medals.
Teddy Riner (Judo)
Not even the best scriptwriter could have done it better. Rhys McClenaghan (Artistic Gymnastics)
The Irishman was world champion on the pommel horse in 2022 and 2023 and now completes his list of achievements with the Olympic title. Kazakhstan's Nariman Kurbanov took silver and bronze went to American Stephen Nedoroscik.
Oliver Zeidler (Rowing)
The German, three-time world champion in the single sculls and who could not even qualify for the final in Tokyo 2020, got over that thorn in style by winning the Olympic title. In the women's event, Dutchwoman Karolien Florijn won ahead of New Zealander Emma Twigg, gold in Japan. In the women's coxed eight, Romania took the top spot, while in the men's event the title went to the United Kingdom.
Olga Kharlan (Fencing)
The Ukrainian took the top spot in the team sabre competition alongside teammates Yuliya Bakastova, Alina Komashchuk and Olena Kravatska and has already won six Olympic medals in her career.
Chen Meng (Table Tennis)

Chen Quing Chen / Jia Yi Fan (Badminton)
The Chinese, four-time world champions, beat their compatriots Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in the final of the doubles tournament and won the gold that they were unable to win in Tokyo 2020.

Novak Djokovic (Tennis)
The Serbian beat Carlos Alcaraz in the final and completed the 'Golden Slam', a feat that in men's singles tennis had only been achieved so far by the American Andre Agassi and the Spaniard Rafa Nadal. The 'Golden Slam' was also completed, although in doubles, by the Italian Sara Errani, gold with her partner Jasmine Paolini.
Isabell Werth (Equestrian)
The German continues to make history by winning silver in the individual dressage competition and now has a total of fourteen Olympic medals (eight gold and six silver) and is in fifth place among athletes with the most medals. Novak Djokovic (Tenis)
El serbio se impuso en la final a Carlos Alcaraz y completa el ‘Golden Slam’, una gesta que en el tenis individual masculino sólo habían logrado hasta ahora el estadounidense Andre Agassi y el español Rafa Nadal. También completó el ‘Golden Slam’, aunque en dobles, la italiana Sara Errani, oro junto a su compañera Jasmine Paolini.
Isabell Werth (Hípica)
La alemana sigue haciendo historia al colgarse la plata en el concurso de doma individual y ya suma un total de catorce medallas olímpicas (ocho oros y seis platas) y se sitúa en el quinto puesto de deportistas con más preseas. El título fue para su compatriota Jessica von Bredow-Werndl y el bronce para la británica Charlotte Fry.
Noah Lyles (Atletismo)
El estadounidense en el nuevo rey de la velocidad después de imponerse en los 100 metros en una carrera muy ajustada al jamaicano Kishane Thompson y a su compatriota Fred Ferley. Tan ajustada que se resolvió por cinco milésimas. Primer paso completado hacia triplete que persigue en París 2024.

Estos han sido algunos de los resultados o hechos más destacados en la jornada del lunes 5 de agosto en los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024:
Armand Duplantis (Atletismo)
El sueco no se contentó con revalidar su título olímpico de pértiga, sino que además batió su propio récord del mundo con un salto de 6,25 metros. Una leyenda de sólo 24 años. La plata o el primero de los mortales fue el estadounidense Sam Kendricks y el bronce se lo colgó el griego Emmanouil Karalis.
Simone Biles (Gimnasio artística)
La estadounidense también falla. En la barra de equilibrios una caída le dejó fuera del pódium, mientras que en el ejercicio de suelo le penalizó sacar en dos ocasiones los dos pies y se tuvo que conformar con la plata. Se va de París 2024 con tres oros y una plata, por lo que suma un total de once medallas olímpicas, siete de ellas de oro.
Valerie Allman (Atletismo)
La estadounidense revalidó su título olímpico en disco firmando los cuatro mejores lanzamientos de la final. La china Feng Bin se colgó la plata y Sandra Elkasevic un bronce que se une a los oros de Londres 2012 y Río 2016.
Keely Hodgkinson (Atletismo)
La británica por fin se colgó el oro tras ser plata en Tokio 2020 y en los dos últimos Mundiales en los 800 metros. Se impuso con autoridad a la etíope Tsige Duguma y la keniana Mary Moraa, la actual campeona del mundo.
Beatrice Chebet (Atletismo)
La keniana se impuso en los 5.000 metros en una carrera en la que su compatriota Faith Kipyegon fue descalificada tras cruzar la meta en segundo lugar y posteriormente recalificada tras prosperar su recurso. El bronce fue para la neerlandesa Sifan Hassan, que ya no podrá hacer triplete de oros den los 5.000, los 10.000 y la maratón. La plusmarquista mundial Gudaf Tsegay fue octava.
Alex Yee (Triatlón)
El británico, con el bronce obtenido en la prueba de relevos mixtos, se convierte en el primer triatleta que alcanza las cuatro medallas olímpicas. Además, su compañera Georgia Taylor-Brown iguala a Jonathan Brownlee en el segundo puesto de triatletas con más preseas, mientras que Beth Potter sumó su segundo bronce en París 2024. El oro fue para Alemania y la plata para Estados Unidos.
Shinnosuke Oka (Gimnasia artística)
El japonés, de 20 años, se proclamó campeón olímpico de barra poco después de subirse al tercer cajón del pódium en paralelas, por lo que se va de París 2024 con tres oros y un bronce y como el nuevo dominador de la gimnasia masculina.
Rebeca Andrade (Gimnasia artística)
La brasileña se impuso a Simone Biles en el ejercicio de suelo y se colgó su segundo oro olímpico, tras el logrado en Tokio 2020 en salto. De París 2024 también se va con dos platas (concurso completo individual y salto) y un bronce (equipos).
Zou Jingyuan (Gimnasia artística)
El chino revalidó su título olímpico en paralelas con gran autoridad. La plata fue para el ucraniano Illia Kovtun, mientras que el alemán Lukas Dauser, actual campeón del mundo, sólo pudo ser séptimo.
Alice D’Amato (Gimnasia artística)
La italiana aprovechó la caída de Simone Biles para colgarse el oro en la barra de equilibrio, donde también estuvo acompañada en el tercer cajón del pódium por su compatriota Manila Esposito. Ambas se llevaron juntas la plata por equipos. La china Zhou Yaqin fue segunda.
Gabriele Rossetti / Diana Bacosi (Tiro olímpico)
Los italianos se colgaron el oro individual en skeet y en París 2024 han unido fuerzas para subirse a lo más alto del pódium en la competición por equipos mixtos. En la final se impusieron a Estados Unidos, con un Vincent Hancock que suma una plata a sus cuatro títulos olímpicos en la prueba individual.
Viktor Axelsen (Bádminton)
El danés revalidó su título olímpico en el cuadro individual al imponerse en la final al tailandés Kunlavut Vitidsarn. A sus dos oros también hay que sumar un bronce en Río 2016.
An Se-young (Bádminton)
La surcoreana, número uno y actual campeona del mundo, se impuso en la final del cuadro individual a la china He Bing Jiao, que tuvo un bonito gesto con Carolina Marín al lucir un pin de España en la entrega de medallas, y conquistó su primer título olímpico.
Noemie Fox (Piragüismo eslalon)
La australiana consiguió que todos los oros femeninos quedaran en casa al proclamarse campeona olímpica de Kayak Cross después de que su hermana Jessica se impusiera en el K-1 y en el C-1. En la prueba masculina fue el neozelandés Finn Butcher quien se subió a lo más alto del pódium.
Emma Hinze / Lea Friedrich (Ciclismo en pista)
Cada una de ellas aspira a tres medallas en París 2024 y ya llevan una, aunque posiblemente no del color que esperaban. Alemania llegaba a la cita como la vigente campeona mundial (2021, 2022 y 2023) y se tuvo que conformar con el bronce en la velocidad por equipos. El oro fue para el Reino Unido, que se impuso en la final a Nueva Zelanda.
Li Yuehong (Tiro olímpico)
El chino por fin se proclamó campeón olímpico de pistola rápida después de colgarse el bronce en Río 2016 y en Tokio 2020.
Jong Worthy (Baloncesto 3x3)
El neerlandés silenció la plaza de la Concordia con una canasta de dos sobre la bocina que le daba el oro a su equipo frente a Francia. Lituania se colgó el bronce, mientras que en el torneo femenino Alemania se impuso a España en la final y Estados Unidos quedó tercera.
Mijaín López (Lucha grecorromana)
El cubano se metió en la final de los 130 kg y mañana luchará por convertirse en el primer deportista de la historia en ser cinco veces campeón olímpico en una prueba individual.
Caroline Marks (Surf)
La estadunidense, actual campeona de la World Surf League, se colgó el oro al imponerse en la final a la brasileña Tatiana Weston-Webb, mientras que el bronce fue para la francesa Johanne Defay. En la prueba masculina se subió a lo más alto del pódium el francés Kauili Vaast por delante del costarricense Brissa Hennessy y el brasileño Gabriel Medina, protagonista de una de las fotos más virales de París 2024.

Sarah Sjöström (Natación)
La sueca se impuso en los 50 libres y sumó su segundo oro en París 2024 tras el logrado hace unos días en los 100. Le acompañaron en el pódium la australiana Meg Harris y la china Zhang Yufei.
Bobby Finke (Natación)
El estadounidense, plata en los 800 libres, revalidó el título olímpico de los 1.500 libres y lo hizo batiendo el récord del mundo. El italiano Gregorio Paltrinieri se colgó la plata y el irlandés Daniel Wiffen, el bronce.
Pan Zhanle (Natación)
El chino, campeón olímpico de los 100 libres, protagonizó un último relevo espectacular para remontar a Estados Unidos, plata, y a Francia, bronce, en los estilos y colgarse el oro junto a sus compañeros Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyann y Sun Jiajun. En el relevo femenino, Regan Smith, Lilly King, Gretchen Walsh y Torri Huske pusieron el punto final a la natación en París 2024 con un récord del mundo.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Atletismo)
La ucraniana cumplió todos los pronósticos y se colgó el oro en el salto de altura. La plusmarquista mundial se impuso a la australiana Nicola Olyslagers, que también saltó dos metros, pero con más nulos, y el bronce lo compartieron Eleanor Patterson e Iryna Herashchenko.
Ethan Katzberg (Atletismo)
El canadiense, actual campeón del mundo, fue el único de los participantes que sobrepasó los 80 metros y se hizo con el oro en el lanzamiento de martillo. El húngaro Bence Halász se subió al segundo cajón del pódium y el ucraniano Mykhaylo Kokhan, al tercero.
Kim Woo-jin (Tiro con arco)
El surcoreano se colgó su tercer oro en París 2024 tras imponerse en la final del torneo individual al estadounidense Brady Ellison. En total, ya suma cinco títulos olímpicos tras los logrados en la competición por equipos en Río 2016 y Tokio 2020.
Scottie Scheffler (Golf)
Realizó una última vuelta espectacular de 62 golpes, lo que le permitió remontar hasta el oro. La plata se la llevó el británico Tommy Fleetwood y el bronce fue para el japonés Hideki Matsuyama.
Kristen Faulkner (Ciclismo)
La estadounidense se proclamó campeona olímpica tras sorprender con un ataque en los últimos kilómetros a la neerlandesa Marianne Vos, plata, la belga Lotte Kopecky, bronce y la húngara Blanka Vas, cuarta.
Carlos Yulo (Gimnasia artística)
El filipino se proclamó campeón olímpico en salto un día después de colgarse el oro en suelo. El armenio Artur Davtyan fue segundo y el el británico Harry Hepworth, tercero.
Liu Yang (Gimnasia artística)
El chino revalidó su título en anillas y suma su segunda medalla en París 2024 tras la plata por equipos. Segundo fue su compatriota Zou Jingyuan y el bronce se lo colgó el griego Eleftherios Petrounias.
Kaylia Nemour (Gimnasia artística)
La argelina se colgó el oro en asimétricas, aparato en el que es la actual subcampeona del mundo al ser batida por la china Qiu Qiyuan, que en esta ocasión se conformó con la plata. El bronce fue para la estadounidense Sunisa Lee.
Fan Zhendong (Tenis de mesa)
El chino se colgó el oro en el torneo individual tras imponerse en la final al sueco Truls Moregard y subió un escalón más en el pódium tras ser plata en Tokio 2020. Ahora le espera la competición por equipos, en la que intentará revalidar el título.
Lee Yang / Wang Chi-lin (Bádminton)
Los taipeianos revalidaron el título olímpico de dobles al imponerse en la final a los chinos Liang Weikeng y Wang Chang. El bronce fue para los malasios Aaron Chia y Soh Wooi Yik.
Francisca Crovetto (Tiro olímpico)
La chilena se hizo con el título olímpico en skeet por delante de la británica Amber Rutter, plata, y la estadounidense Austen Smith, bronce.
Kazuki Iimura (Esgrima)
El japonés, que quedó cuarto en la prueba individual de florete, aprovechó su segunda oportunidad para ser medallista olímpico y lo hizo además colgándose el oro por equipos junto a sus compañeros Takahiro Shikine, Kyosuke Matsuyama y Yudai Nagano.
Shericka Jackson (Atletismo)
La jamaicana, que ya había renunciado a los 100 metros tras la lesión que sufrió a principios de julio, tampoco se presentó a la salida de las series de los 200 metros. Además, el estadounidense Freddie Crittenden, con molestias, trotó en su serie de los 110 vallas para no correr riesgo de lesión y disputar dentro de dos días la repesca, mientras que Tajay Gayle se quedó fuera de la final del salto de longitud. El bahameño Steven Gardiner tampoco tomó la salida en su serie de los 400 metros.
