Spain and England will meet Sunday in the European Championship final. Spain is looking to set a record with its fourth European Championship title by breaking a tie with Germany, while England wants to win its first major trophy since the 1966 World Cup. The match kicks off at 1900GMT in Berlin. Here's what to know:
FACTS-Spain comes in as favorites after winning all six of their European Championship duels and the fact that they are recognized as the best team in the tournament. Winning the title would follow up a strong period of success for Spanish teams after they won the Nations League in June 2023 and the women conquered the Women's World Cup two months later.
-Lamine Yamal is Spain's rising star and she assisted on three goals before the semifinals, when she scored a spectacular goal in the win over France - all at the age of 16. Yamal turns 17 on Saturday, a day before the final. This has been a revelatory tournament for Yamal, as the 2018 World Cup was for Kylian Mbappé, who was 19 at the time, and for 17-year-old Pelé at the 1958 World Cup.
-The last time Spain contested a major final was in 2012, when the team won its third European title by thrashing Italy 4-0. England contested the final of the last European Championship and lost in the penalty shootout series to Italy.
-England has proven to be a resilient team by coming from behind in all three of its Euro 2024 knockout stage matches. Jude Bellingham scored the equalizer with a scissor-kick goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time in extra time against Slovakia in the round of 16. Bukayo Saka equalized after 80 minutes against Switzerland in the quarterfinals before England won the penalty shootout series and substitute Ollie Watkins fired the winner after 90 minutes against the Netherlands in the semifinals.
-England manager Gareth Southgate has been criticized for his style in matches, but he also changed the culture in the team that has gone far in major tournaments under him. Since Southgate arrived in 2016, England reached the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and are now in back-to-back Euro finals.

Spanish captain Alvaro Morata trained all week after limping off in the semifinal against France after being knocked down by a guard trying to stop an invader during the celebration at the end of the match. Right back Dani Carvajal returns after serving his suspension and the only doubt for Luis de la Fuente will be whether Nacho or Robin Le Normand will partner Aymeric Laporte. Dani Olmo will likely return to replace the injured Pedri in midfield.
-Southgate must decide whether Kieran Trippier or Luke Shaw will be at left-back. Shaw is a natural in the position, but has only had two substitute appearances in the add-on after recovering from an injury that has kept him out since February. But elsewhere, Southgate will pick his same squad after teenager Kobbie Mainoo solved a troublesome midfield problem.
