Italia, en cambio, se vio sorpresa concon el gol más tempranero de la Eurocopa a pocos segundos de iniciado el encuentro con Albania. Sin embargo pudo remontarlo y ganarlo ajustadamente por 2 a 1.
La "gran noche" de España: goleada ante Croacia y el sueño en la Euro.

El plantel de Luis de la Fuente puso primera y logró un triunfo inobjetable ante un rival siempre complejo. Aunque tiene saldo positivo ante Croacia, como en 8vos. de la Euro 2020 y en la final de la UEFA Nations League 2022/23, no se puede desconocer el nivel de Luka Modric y compañía.
"Podré reír y soñar, y bailar. Disfrutando la vida". Con un mix interesante de experiencia y juventud que le permite arropar a los talentos de su ataque, el regreso de Pedri y el peso de su historia, España ríe y sueña. Todavía no baila. A eso aspira, luego de su primera "gran noche".
Suiza golpea primero y logra la victoria en la Eurocopa.
Suiza escolta a Alemania en el Grupo A, ambos con tres puntos. Escocia y Hungría aún no han sumado unidades.
El segundo juego de la Eurocopa, y también el segundo del Grupo A, puso en escena a Hungría contra Suiza, ambos obligados a sumar los tres puntos, sobre todo por la gran victoria de Alemania 5-1 contra Escocia en el primer encuentro de la competencia.
El conjunto húngaro llegaba en un buen momento futbolístico. En sus últimos cinco partidos, en los que entregó momentos de buen fútbol, sumó cuatro victorias y una sola derrota. En su más reciente presentación, generó gran expectativa al golear con contundencia 3-0 a Israel. Roland Sallai y un doblete de Barnabás Varga sentenciaron una victoria que los ayudó a tomar confianza antes del debut en la Eurocopa.

Albania consiguió un histórico gol antes del primer minuto de juego en el duelo ante Italia por la fecha 1 de la Eurocopa 2024, pero la Azzurra no se quedó y lo dio vuelta para imponerse por 2 a 1.
Al minuto Bajrami consiguió el tanto para los albaneses luego de un error en la salida de Italia. Pero Italia reaccionó rápido.
A los 11 minutos, luego de un corner que jugaron corto entre Dimarco y Pellegrini, este último tiró un centro de derecha, desde la izquierda, y le puso la pelota en la cabeza a Bastoni que conectó y anotó la igualdad.
Cinco minutos después, Barella tomó un rebote en la puerta del área grande y remató de volea, de primera con el empeine de la pierna derecha y la puso en el ángulo derecho del arquero Strakosha que se estiró, pero no pudo llegar.
De esta manera Italia venció a Albania por 2 a 1 en el inicio de la fecha 1 de la Eurocopa 2024. Estos equipos comparten grupo B junto a España que más temprano derrotó a Croacia 3 a 0.
