Sin embargo, la gran sorpresa del torneo asiático es Jordania. El equipo comandado por Hussein Ammouta sigue haciendo historia y este martes por la tarde venció 2-0 a la Corea del Sur de Jürgen Klinsmann y de esta forma accedió a la gran final del certamen, donde espera por el ganador del duelo entre Qatar e Irán.
Se abrían las semifinales de la Copa Asia y el primer partido era entre Jordania y Corea del Sur, ambas selecciones se habían medido en la fase de grupos y el partido terminó 2-2. Los coreanos eran los grandes favoritos a llevarse el torneo mientras que los jordanos eran la cenicienta del torneo y venían haciendo historia. En la fase de grupos, clasificaron como una de las mejores terceras del grupo y eso provocó que en los octavos de final se enfrente a la siempre dura y complicada Irak. En un partido que tuvo de todo (goles, rojas, intervenciones del VAR), los de Ammouta vencieron 3-2 a los iraquíes y accedían a la siguiente instancia. Allí, se iban a topar con Tayikistán y en un partido que fue todo lo inverso a Irak, Jordania volvió a dar otro golpe, ganaba 1-0 y se metía en las semifinales.
Por su parte, Corea del Sur clasificó como segunda del Grupo E y venía de eliminar a Arabia Saudita por penales en octavos de final y a Australia en el alargue, con la figura de su capitán Heung Min Son, en cuartos de final. Sin embargo, el extremo del Tottenham poco pudo hacer ante una Jordania que estaba más que inspirada y con un gran fútbol donde se destacó el juego colectivo, el equipo de Klinsmann quedó eliminado de la Copa de Asia y disputará el partido por el tercer puesto.
De esta forma, Jordania accedió por primera vez en su historia la final del torneo y se enfrentará ante el vencedor del duelo entre Qatar e Irán. Su mejor participación había sido en la edición de 2019 donde alcanzó la instancia de octavos de final.
Qatar o Irán, ¿Quién será el otro finalista?
Con Jordania instalada en la final solo resta saber quién será su rival. Qatar, que es el anfitrión y último campeón del torneo, viene haciendo los deberes de gran manera y está en camino de revalidar su título y conseguir el bicampeonato. En la fase de grupos, el país anfitrión del último mundial, que coronó a la Selección Argentina como campeona del mundo, obtuvo puntaje perfecto y accedió a los octavos de final como líder del Grupo A. Ya en la instancia de mata mata, el seleccionado de Tintín Márquez venció 2-1 a Palestina mientras que en los cuartos de final tuvo que sufrir de más pero tras empatar 1-1 ante Uzbekistán en los 120´ minutos, Qatar se impuso 3-2 en la tanda de penales.

En un duelo muy disputado ninguno de los equipos se sacó diferencias y tras igualar 1-1, todo se definió desde los doce pasos. Allí, Siria falló un penal mientras que Irán fue preciso y acertó los cinco disparos, lo que le dio la clasificación a los cuartos de final.
En esa instancia, se dio uno de los partidos más esperados en esta Copa, Irán vs. Japón. La última subcampeona partía como una de las grandes favoritas a llevarse el título pero los hombres de Amir Ghalenoei dieron el batacazo y con un gol de penal en la última jugada del partido, Irán dejaba afuera a la selección nipona y se clasificaba para las semifinales.
