The highlights of the 5th Bundesliga matchday 5: Bayern Munich's goal and the surprise called Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim is the surprise package. They continue to win and are perched at the top of the table. Bayern swept to the top of the table.

Bayern Munich thrashed Bochum 7-0.

Bayern Munich crushed Bochum 7-0 with three goals from Harry Kane in the fifth round of the Bundesliga, which already leads alone with 13 points ahead of Stuttgart, Leipzig and Hoffenheim. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Matthijs de Ligt, Leroy Sané and Mathys Tel sealed the win at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 23 September.  

The 30-year-old Englishman has now scored eight goals in just six games in his new shirt, including the UEFA Champions League winner against Manchester United. He has yet to catch up with Stuttgart's surprise French-Guinean, Serhou Guirassy, who has 10 goals to his name at the start of the season.

Next up, Thomas Tuchel's side visit one of their closest challengers, Leipzig, on Saturday 30 September at 13.30 at the Red Bull Arena. Before that, they will make their DFB Pökal (local cup) debut against PreuBen Münster on Tuesday in the first round.

Bochum, on the other hand, will host Borussia Mönchengladbach on the same Saturday, but at 10.30 am and will be looking for their first win of the season. With three draws and two defeats, they are 14th in the Bundesliga.  

Hoffenheim's solid win at Union Berlin 2-0

Hoffenheim left Union Berlin with no chance by winning at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei with a resounding 0-2 scoreline on matchday 5 of the Bundesliga 2023-2024. The goals for the visitors came from Andrej Kramaric (21' 1T, penalty) and Maximilian Beier (37' 1T).

Another key player at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei was Oliver Baumann. The Hoffenheim goalkeeper had a great performance against Union Berlin as he saved 6 shots.

With a lot of fouls, it was an intense match with a lot of interruptions on the pitch. Several players were cautioned: Andrej Kramaric, Anton Stach, Lucas Tousart and Finn Becker.

Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer fielded a 3-5-2 formation with Frederik Rönnow in goal; Danilho Doekhi, Leonardo Bonucci and Diego Leite in defence; Josip Juranovic, Janik Haberer, Brenden Aaronson, Lucas Tousart and Robin Gosens in the middle; and Sheraldo Becker and Kevin Behrens in attack.

For their part, Pellegrino Matarazzo's side played a 3-5-2 formation with Oliver Baumann in goal; Ozan Kabak, John Brooks and Kevin Vogt in defence; Pavel Kaderabek, Grischa Prömel, Anton Stach, Andrej Kramaric and Robert Skov in midfield; and Wout Weghorst and Maximilian Beier up front.

The match at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei was officiated by referee Deniz Aytekin.

Next up, Union Berlin visit Heidenheim. On the other hand, Hoffenheim will host Borussia Dortmund.

The home side are in ninth place with 6 points, while the visitors have 12 points and are in fourth place in the league.
