The Costa Rican national team drew 0-0 against Brazil at SoFi Stadium, a match that was played as the debut of both teams in the current edition of the Copa America being held in the United States.
The first half of the match had a Costa Rican national team that was more defensive system than a team that at least proposed in attack, the Tico squad was dedicated to break all the threads in attack of the Brazilians who in the first half overwhelmed the tricolor in possession of the ball, but did not find freedom to get on the scoreboard.

La selección nacional de Costa Rica empató a cero frente a Brasil en el SoFi Stadium, partido que se disputó como el debut de ambos conjuntos en la presente edición de Copa América que se realiza en Estados Unidos.
La primera mitad de partido tuvo a una selección nacional de Costa Rica que fue más sistema defensivo que un conjunto que al menos propusiera en ataque, la escuadra tica se dedicó a romper todos los hilos conductores en ataque de los brasileños quienes en el primer tiempo avasallaron a la tricolor en posesión de pelota, mas, no encontraron libertad para ponerse arriba en el marcador.
Marquinhos fue quien tuvo la acción más importante del primer tiempo, el defensor del PSG envió el balón adentro del marco de Patrick Sequeira tras un cabezazo de Rodrygo, en una jugada de táctica fija.
Los brasileños celebraron a más no poder cuando se jugaban 35 minutos, sin embargo, el árbitro mexicano César Ramos anuló el gol por un fuera de juego no señalado, evidentemente hubo un reclamo generalizado de los cariocas quienes no podían creer que tenían la opción más importante de gol y fue anulada.

Esa jugada agrietó la defensa rival, floja para despejar en el juego aéreo. De otra pelota del 10 esta vez de tiro libre en la derecha apareció el 2-0. La curva fue al área para el otro frentazo de Jefferson Lerma a los 42'
Dos toques suyos le dieron el control del partido al equipo, incómodo en la salida de los laterales y con Lerma amonestado al cuarto de hora. Ríos dio empuje en la mitad y lanzó pases largos entre la sobrepoblación paraguaya en esa zona. Anticipó, probó de media distancia y justificó su participación en el inicio.
Sin Johan Mojica de aliado por la izquierda, Luis Díaz tuvo más desgaste frente a sus marcadores. Lo rodearon y fue profundo por su técnica individual. Equivocó algunas decisiones por sus ganas de anotar. Se aceleró en la definición.
Con la ventaja, Colombia subió la posesión del balón. Jugó al pie, encadenó pases y cuando hizo cambios recibió el descuento en un descuido de Davinson Sánchez cubriendo la zona de Johan Mojica. Esa anotación la metió en campo propio, abusando de las faltas. El bajón de Jhon Arias también afectó el funcionamiento.
De nuevo el capitán resolvió. Dio calma entre la reacción y el juego fuerte albirrojo. Otro de sus centros terminó en penal a Yerry Mina descartado por el VAR.
El final apretado fue innecesario. La Selección perdonó y el roce físico de los paraguayos lo complicó. Sin Lerma, quedó más expuesto.
Colombia volverá a jugar por la segunda fecha el viernes 28 de junio ante Costa Rica en Phoenix.
