Brasil, en cambio, a pesar de haber cambiado DT sigue sin encontrar el fútbol y los goles que lo caracteriza. A punto tal de ocupar la última plaza clasificatoria en las eliminatorias sudamericanas del próximo Mundial. En la versión anterior de la Copa América perdió la final en casa ante Argentina. Y en esta oportunidad se despide de la misma en semifinales.

En el entretiempo, la Celeste volvió a mover el banco dándole ingreso a Sebastián Cáceres por Matías Viña, y en el arranque del segundo tiempo Valverde generó la primera chance clara con un potente remate que le quemó las manos a Alisson. El propio 'Halcón' volvió a intentar sobre los 62' con un tiro de media distancia que se fue por arriba del travesaño.
El trámite seguía siendo muy disputado y parejo, y Bielsa decidió darle ingreso a Bentancur por el amonestado Nicolás De La Cruz para darle frescura a un mediocampo, pero el partido cambió sobre los 73' cuando Nahitan Nandez se fue expulsado tras una dura infracción sobre Rodrygo, por lo que Uruguay quedó con diez.
A partir de ahí, el entrenador de Uruguay mandó a la cancha a Guillermo Varela y a Giorgian De Arrascaeta para reacomodar al equipo y aguantar el empate, y si bien Brasil intentó torcer el trámite a su favor, el partido se fue con el empate 0 a 0.

Esta vez para Luis Díaz, aprovechada por su velocidad y definida con un sombrero de derecha a la salida del portero Orlando Mosquera al final del primer tiempo.
La exhibición tuvo una pausa de control de balón para frenar la fricción de Panamá. Elevó la posesión al 53 por ciento y cuando aceleró por los costados selló su clasificación a la próxima ronda. Richard Ríos tomó una segunda jugada de una falta Daniel Muñoz y con otro derechazo al segundo palo anotó el 4-0.
El técnico Néstor Lorenzo hizo cambios. Sacó a James, Muñoz y a Córdoba, los tres aplaudidos en Arizona. Esta victoria mostró a un equipo voraz que pese a los cambios en la mitad tiene equilibrio, recuperación rápida y efectividad arriba.
Miguel Borja convirtió el 5-0 con otra pena máxima en tiempo de adición. La fiesta del gol fue absoluta.
"Es un orgullo muy grande, hicimos los goles rápido. Con el rival que sea jugamos con intensidad y ganas, tener el control del partidoes importante", dijo James.
Colombia enfrentará a Uruguay en las semifinales. El partido será el miércoles 10 de julio en Charlotte.
