Boris Johnson has sparked outrage by comparing the Ukrainian conflict to Brexit.

When I watched Boris Johnson, the UK Prime Minister, give a speech in which he equates the Ukrainian people's fight against Putin's tyranny to British people voting for Brexit, I was struck by how similar the two are. In the beginning, it sounded absurd.

This is because people are dying by the hundreds, millions are becoming refugees, and it's all simply fodder for a clever remark at such a prominent conference for him.

Boris should have used Scotland's attempt to break free from WM as a stronger example, in my opinion. At the very least, this would be a less serious contrast.

His comparison offended a large number of people. Anyone who cares about human life and watch the conference. For many people, the instances represent two different events that have nothing to do with one another. It still looks unconcerned with the misery of the Ukrainian people, who are living through one of their darkest periods in history.

On the other hand, critically assessing his words, it's possible that the comparison being made isn't entirely accurate. I believe he is pointing out that 52 percent of British voters voted for independence from the EU, and that by refusing to give up, Ukrainians are opting for independence from Russia. Freedom, not what people think, is the most important point.
