For Nigeria flood disaster is something that is happening every year. This is really causing hardship to different states,town and community.
Is no longer a new thing the current situation happening in Nigeria, farm land building and crops has been destroyed by these flood, during these flood people are forcefully to harvest their crops, this is really causing hardship to the affected area. So these flood is one of the country most prevalent natural disasters that happened every year.
In Nigeria, flooding is one of the most frequent natural disaster, the problem is not new.
CAUSES OF FLOOD IN NIGERIAF
1. Flood is mainly caused due to heavy rainfall, River flowing it's Bank, Poor waste management, Non existent drainage system,Poor urban planning, also due to heavy rainfall
2. Flood can appear to be an unavoidable fact of life in Nigeria. However, it can be controlled by proper urban planning, and establishment of suitable models for hydrological predictions ,also collecting data that will enable accurate weather forecast
3. To tackle flooding challenges, the government should read the riot act to residents against engaging in blocking of gutter and drains ,with solid waste.
4. Citizens should stop throwing waste in to drainage during rainfall. Those who built houses, on wafer channels should be advised to relocate and if they refuse to, such houses be demolished so that water can be allowed to flow unhindered.
Meanwhile, our chairman has commiserate with the victims and lamented the devastating impacts of the flood crisis. He appealed to relevant authority and organizations to come to the aid of the flood victims ,saying most of them have lost their farmlands and households.
We also argued our government to set up internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps for flood victims and provide relief assistance, emergency shelter materials and other mitigating services to the displaced and vulnerable victims of flood affected communities.
