Iranian Mehran Karimi Naseri, who was stuck at Charles Airport near Paris, France for 18 years, died last Saturday at 'Terminal Two F'. He was born in 1945 in Khuzestan province of Iran. He arrived in Paris in 1988 from Iran via London, Berlin and Amsterdam in search of his mother and got stuck at the airport after failing to show the required immigration documents. He lived on a bench at Paris's Chalice Airport with the help of airport staff, providing food, medicine, etc. In 1999, the French government granted him refugee status. After receiving the refugee status papers, he took some time to think and later said that he wanted to remain in his current status at the airport and remained there.
Spielberg learned about Mehran Karimi's story and made a movie called "The Terminal" based on Karimi's biography in 2004. Karimi gets a lot of money for a movie based on his life story and leaves the airport and goes somewhere else.
However, he returned to the airport a few weeks before his death and continued to live there and died last Saturday. Several thousand euros were found in his pocket after his death.
