
Bangladesh ranks 47th in terms of e-commerce compared to other countries
. There is no denying that starting a business from scratch has great potential.
According to the UNB report, the country's e-commerce market size was around Tk 568.70 billion in 2021, which was estimated to reach Tk 660 billion in 2022. Not only that, it is expected that the country's e-commerce market size will reach around 1.5 trillion rupees by 2026. After knowing this, now you can imagine the potential of the e-commerce sector in our country.
Bangladesh e-commerce market dynamics
If we look back now, we can see that the amount of investment in the e-commerce sector has also increased more than before. For example: According to the newspaper The News Age, in 2016, the investment for e-commerce in Bangladesh was about 50 million dollars. Of which 10 million dollars was foreign direct investment.
Since then, investment in this sector has increased. For example: According to Prothom Alo, Bangladesh received $125 million in foreign investment after e-commerce giant Alibaba acquired Daraz in 2018 (as of 2020). So it can be said that due to increasing investment, e-commerce is gradually becoming a strong and profitable sector.
